Well, maybe this won't be completely interesting to anyone but me, but right now is a busy time for my local postal carrier as I'm expecting a lot of things to arrive at the same time. Things like:
- My contributor copies of THE MAMMOTH BOOK OF BEST NEW HORROR. I think the book isn't due in stores for another month or so, but apparently copies are shipping to the writers included.
- John Llewellyn Probert's COFFIN NAILS from Ash Tree Press. Not only is John a good friend but a fantastic writer. Unlike a lot of modern horror fiction (my own included!) John writes with a sense that he actually enjoys doing so, and it's refreshing and sinister. Even his home-grown commercial for the book give the sense of gleeful sinisterness.
- The advance proof of BENEATH THE SURFACE, the last stage before the final printing occurs and any little mistakes can no longer be fixed.
- Artist Guy Davis's latest, SKETCH MACABRE 3. Guy is a fantastic illustrator whose work quite often slips into my brian and rattles it for long after. His sexualised-Lovecraft work in his series THE MARQUIS (due to be re-released this year) is staggeringly beautiful and awful.
- Paul Finch's GHOST REALM, the latest collection and the second from Ash Tree. Paul's work ranges from the quiet to the in-your-face, and he manages each atmosphere with awe-inspiring finesse. Those who don't know Paul's work are really missing out.
- And lastly, the one I'd forgotten for a few hours, my contributor copy of BITS OF THE DEAD, the flash-fiction zombie anthology from Coscom Entertainment of which somehow I became part.

You forgot to mention the packet containing block of marble, from which you will carve a bust of the Editor of your collection "Beneath the Surface". That'll be giving Postie a pain.
I've just watch Lord Probert's advertorial for his volume of stories. I'm even more pleased to have parted with monies for the volume now. It seems a right good thing, that book.
I've even parted with monies for the Ash Tree collection "At Ease with the Dead", which contains not only his work, but McMahon's and your own. Thankfully it also has Barbara Rodan's as well so as to ease the pain of such dodgy offerings.
A good rule of thumb:
"Rodan" - giant flying dinosaur, frequent opponent of Godzilla.
"Roden" - a lovely editor from Ashcroft, BC
Otherwise, good show! The tales in AT EASE are all top-notch (don't miss Reggie Oliver's and Simon Unsworth's contributions as well).
And, yes, you deserve a bust for all your work. Come here so I may bust your head.
Not to mention the 2nd Humdrumming Book of Horror Stories.
Of course, but that book isn't due for another month or so, which is why I've left it off the list. These are books I'm expecting to see any day now (and, sadly, none of yet arrived).
hmmmm..look at that fry on the floor..mmm..that looks tasty...hmmmm
